We want to provide you with not only the resources for your mentoring sessions but also with the opportunity to have supervision/training as well. This can grow you in several ways whether that be professionally, emotionally or socially.
Supervision is an invaluable resource for both yourself as a mentor and for those you are mentoring. It gives you support in the following areas:
Seeing circumstances from a different perspective.
Help prevent burnout.
Guidance on how to move mentoring relationships forwards.
Some would say that getting supervision is one of the greatest self-care methods in Youth and Children work. This will have a direct impact on your mentoring.
We have seen first hand the benefits of having supervision can be. Each of the mentors that give their time to supervise you, has their very own supervisor. Just to be able to talk through situations and know we have someone looking out for us, is a great feeling to have. We at Listen Up Mentor know how important supervision is to sustain our roles for long periods.
What to Expect
During the first half of any given session, the focus will be on your work and your supervisor can offer support, advice or suggest various resources where needed. In the second half of any given session, the focus will be on you and your well-being. They can talk through your workload, how it can be lightened, if you're finding it too heavy and offer practical advice on ways you can improve your self-care and general well-being.
We hope that you find your supervision sessions encouraging, engaging and challenging.
